This website is the self-expression of author and translator Stefan Stefanov, a.k.a. Cheeseus, a.k.a. Dalai Lamia, often referred to as “Me” or “I”. Cheeseus.org contains works produced by me, including poetry, short stories, essays, articles, thoughts, and translations. The last section features translations of Bulgarian poetry into English and English poetry into Bulgarian. The criterion applied while selecting works to translate is that of sheer subjectivity – I have translated only works that have in some way appealed to me.
I was born in 1978 in Bulgaria, in the town of Razgrad but have lived in Veliko Tarnovo since 1998. At present, I work as Assistant Professor of Practical English at the same university I graduated from, the St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo, and as a freelance translator. A significant portion of my non-teaching and non-translating time is devoted to my doctoral dissertation research. I also do occasional web-design and development, mostly under the title of my own company, Asphodel Works.
The texts the incidental visitor to this website (“You”) will encounter may, to an extent, help you create a mental image of myself, for whatever reason you might want to do that. This image will, in all probability, be a distortion of what I am, I do, or I believe in. If you ever care to elaborate on these, feel free to contact me. I shall feel free to reply or not.
I hope you enjoy the texts here. When I say enjoy, I only refer to the possible momentary sensual gratification you may experience. I shall not under any circumstances be held liable for any mental adventures you embark on following your visitation to this website. Well, if these prove beneficial to yourself, I will appreciate it if you recommend my work to others or revisit, because I sometimes add new material.
